Q1: I have been in the design industry for about 3 years.

Q2: My favorite BoConcept piece is the Ottawa sofa, its organic curves allow it to be a show-stopping statement piece in any room and it is highly multi-functional which is another aspect I enjoy including in my designs.

Q3: When beginning my consultations I like to start by getting a sense of the clients' immediate wants and needs, there are certain things some clients do not want to live without in their homes and I want to make sure they have it all. I also like to get a sense of their existing architecture and what mood they'd like to feel when entering the space, this really sets the conceptual direction for color and space planning. I love seeing pictures my clients have to offer because I always do my best work when I am able to view the space I am working with, and I always do an activity assessment to figure out what fabrics and finishes will be most suitable for my client's lifestyle.

Q4:I recommend gathering a lot of inspiration from on-trend sources and visiting your local showroom to test out furniture before you purchase anything for your project, you may end up meeting a designer and they may inspire you with some new concepts!

Meet Our Designer - Michele Faber

Q: How long have you been in the interior design industry?

I have been in the design industry professionally for 20 years. I spent the first 18-1/2 years working for a very well-known American Furniture Company before I discovered BoConcept.

Q: What is your favorite BoConcept piece and why?

That's a very hard question, since I am new to BoConcept, I discover new pieces all the time and then they become my favorite. At the moment I like the Indivi sofa with all its availability to change with materials and configurations, but I also like the Vancouver dining table, in walnut with its extensions.

Q: How do you conduct your design consultation?

I like to do what's best for my client, especially now during Covid -19. There used to be two main ways, in the clients home or in the showroom. Now we can also conduct our consultations via FaceTime Zoom or by Cellphone. Once we establish their needs, I will come up with a plan and we proceed from there.

Q: What is one thing you can recommend to your customers before they start an interior design project?

I like to recommend my clients look for inspiration, especially if they don't know where to start. Then we can get to a budget. If we don't work with a budget, it's hard to go from the top of the line to the middle or below. Nobody wants there to be any disappointments, this should be exciting and most of all fun.

Q: How long have you been in the interior design industry?

I've worked in the interior design industry for 9 years.

Q: What is your favorite BoConcept piece and why?

I love the Imola chair with the still base. I really like it in the Carmel Sienna Leather

Q: How do you conduct your design consultation?

It usually starts out at the store, where I get to know the customer and their main requirements for their personal projects. I like to ask who will be using the space the most and then from there brainstorming which products would fit perfectly in the space. Once we do our in-home consultation, I take accurate measurements and observe the space to see what best fits their lifestyle. I'm involved throughout the whole process, even down to the delivery and setup and finally the final project reveal.

Q: What is one thing you can recommend to your customers before they start an interior design project?

To focus on how they plan to achieve their space and how it will be utilized.

Q: How long have you been in the interior design industry?

A: I've been in the interior design industry for almost a year! Before joining BoConcept I studied Interior Architecture and Design for 4 years at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

Q: What is your favorite BoConcept piece and why?

A: I have two favorite pieces actually! I love the Hampton sofa, particularly in the silver gray Napoli fabric, and I also love the Dublin chair. Both are very comfortable to me and I really love their overall designs.

Q: How do you conduct your design consultation?

A: I first like to get to know my clients, which usually takes place during their first visits to the showroom. From there I begin to ask questions to better understand the space(s) they are looking to design and how they are going to be used. After gaining a good understanding of what they want and need, I then move forward with furniture selection and thinking of a color palette that fits with the overall design. I also make sure I have accurate measurements to ensure that everything will fit in the space(s) as expected. Most importantly, I always make sure to include my clients in the process as well, allowing them to lead as much as possible so that it feels like it is their own design. Designing homes is exciting, and I aim to make sure my clients have fun and enjoy the process!

Q: What is one thing you can recommend to your customers before they start an interior design project?

A: To try and have a solid idea or plan of what they want in the design as well as what they need. Going into an interior design project with no idea of what you want or need can make the process take longer and be more stressful than it needs to be!
